Agra court clears Jhansi man in 2004 spy case

A man from Jhansi, who was accused of being part of a Pakistan spy network in 2004 and spent a year in jail, has been acquitted by an Agra court due to “insufficient evidence”. Jameel Ahmad, 50, out on bail, faced charges of cheating and criminal conspiracy. Implicated by two suspected Pak agents in police custody, Ahmad was in 2004 held with what cops claimed was a CD holding “sensitive military info”. Court said the prosecution failed to prove his involvement and highlighted that the CD, a key evidence, was found broken into pieces when produced on record.
