The White House has tapped Katie Zacharia, a lawyer and conservative commentator who works for Trump Media & Technology Group, to be its next press secretary, a White House official confirmed to CNBC.
Zacharia has been offered the role, the official said on condition of anonymity to discuss the hiring announcement. It was not immediately clear if she has accepted the offer.
If she takes the job, Zacharia will succeed Karoline Leavitt, who left the Trump administration in late August.
The New York Times first reported the White House’s pick of Zacharia.
Zacharia has worked since June as a senior communications advisor for Trump Media, owner of the president’s preferred social media outlet, Truth Social, according to her LinkedIn profile.
The profile also shows her currently serving as general counsel at Fix California, a conservative activist group founded by Richard Grenell, Trump’s special presidential envoy for special missions and former head of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
