SAD MP Harsimrat Badal writes to Om Birla over farmer's body removal, seeks action against SSP
Harsimrat Kaur Badal has reached out to the Lok Sabha Speaker to demand accountability from Mansa SSP Vaibhav Chaudhary.

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal has written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, seeking permission to raise a question of privilege and contempt of the House under Rules 222 and 223 against Mansa senior superintendent of police (SSP) Vaibhav Chaudhary over his alleged conduct during their interaction on October 29, 2026.Badal alleged that police personnel forcibly removed the body of Daljit Singh, a marginal farmer from Bhamme Kalan village in Punjab’s Mansa district, from his family’s possession without their consent. The family had been staging a protest, claiming that Daljit Singh’s death was linked to the drug trade and demanding action against those responsible. Badal alleged that the police used force and intimidation during the intervention and failed to provide the family with a satisfactory explanation about why the body was taken away or how it could be released. She also flagged the alleged removal of Daljit’s diabetic father, Jarnail Singh, from the premises by uniformed police personnel, claiming that the family was not informed about his whereabouts.

Badal alleges SSP dismissed her concerns

According to the notice, Badal contacted SSP Vaibhav Chaudhary by phone on October 29 while visiting the bereaved family, seeking an explanation for the police action. She alleged that during the recorded conversation, the officer repeatedly interrupted her, termed her account a “wrong narrative”, described her concerns as “misguided” and brushed aside her questions about the police intervention.Badal said the SSP acknowledged that the police had taken the body to maintain law and order, but insisted that the family should collect it themselves. She further alleged that he denied police involvement in the removal of Jarnail Singh and advised the family to lodge a missing-person report.
