NEW DELHI: The Delhi high court on Monday dismissed a batch of petitions seeking an SIT probe into the 2020 Delhi riots and the 2019 violence at Jamia Millia Islamia.The court also rejected pleas seeking registration of FIRs against certain political leaders over alleged “hate speeches” linked to the 2020 riots, as well as action against police officers accused of dereliction of duty, PTI reported.The petitions included pleas filed by former Rajya Sabha MP Brinda Karat and Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind seeking investigations into alleged police inaction and hate speeches.Other petitions sought probes into the alleged role of rioters, including an NIA investigation into alleged funding of the riots. Some also raised allegations against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.The petitions sought further investigation into various aspects of the violence, including alleged police lapses, hate speeches and the circumstances surrounding the 2020 riots and 2019 Jamia violence.
