J&K: Fire damages Mata Vaishno Devi helipad terminal in Reasi

NEW DELHI: A fire broke out at a helipad terminal in Katra, the base camp for pilgrims visiting the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Jammu and Kashmir‘s Reasi district, early Sunday, officials said.The fire started around 3:15 am, apparently due to a short circuit, and was brought under control within 30 minutes through the joint efforts of terminal staff, security personnel and fire and emergency services, officials said, according to news agency PTI.The helipad terminal, an important transit point for pilgrims travelling to the shrine atop the Trikuta hills, was closed at the time of the incident.Some computers at the ticket counter and a coffee shop were destroyed in the fire, officials added.The extent of the damage is being assessed. No casualties have been reported so far.More details are awaited.
